These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to Hookstride's website, dashboard, APIs, incoming webhook gateway (where enabled), and related services ("Services"). They apply to the individual or organization using the Services ("you" or "Customer"). By registering, accepting an invitation, purchasing a plan, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and the policies linked below.
1. Operator, notices and contact
Service/operator name: Hookstride
For formal notices, privacy requests or the verified registered particulars of the contracting operator, contact us here. If your order or invoice identifies a contracting legal entity, that entity is the service provider under the applicable transaction.
Hookstride is the service brand referenced in these Terms. Formal notices may be sent through the legal contact above or the support form; we may request identity verification before acting on security-sensitive requests. Account notices may be sent to the verified email address registered with your workspace.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement. When acting for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it to these Terms. You must supply accurate account information and keep it current. Hookstride is intended primarily for developer and business integrations, not consumer-to-consumer communications or emergency communications.
3. What Hookstride provides
Hookstride accepts authenticated event submissions, stores eligible events, schedules outbound signed HTTP webhook delivery, records delivery attempts, and retries supported transient failures. A project may have multiple destinations. A separately configured inbound gateway can verify supported provider webhooks and route eligible incoming events to a project's destinations.
Delivery is asynchronous and at least once, not exactly once.Acceptance of an event is not proof of delivery or of processing by the receiving application. Delays, duplicates, out-of-order arrivals, delivery failure, rate limits, quotas, and recovery after outages are possible. Only explicitly agreed written service-level commitments override this description.
Hookstride is not an email/SMS/push sender, payment processor, MQTT broker, live collaboration service, data warehouse, or substitute for your application's business logic. Third-party API connections or adapters must be built or enabled separately. Our documentation describes supported interfaces and limitations.
4. Your applications and receiving endpoints
You determine when an event occurs, which data is included, and which endpoint receives it. You must control or have permission to use every destination and inbound source you configure. Your receivers must verify the relevant delivery signature and timestamp, safely handle repeated event IDs, validate authorization, record work durably before returning success, and avoid trusting unverified payloads.
Do not submit private credentials, authentication tokens, financial card data, health records, identity-document images, biometric templates, or other sensitive data unless the processing is expressly permitted, necessary, and supported by appropriate safeguards and a separate written agreement where required. Configure DNS, TLS, firewalls, and receiver availability responsibly.
5. Accounts, projects and credentials
Workspaces can have separate projects, destinations, API keys, incoming connections, members, quotas, and billing. You are responsible for invitations, roles, and actions performed through your authorized users and project credentials. Do not share credentials between unrelated customers or store API keys in public repositories, browser JavaScript, mobile binaries, or untrusted devices.
Report suspected compromise promptly through security support. Rotate or revoke exposed keys, signing secrets, and access tokens. Multi-factor authentication and account-recovery steps may be required for privileged actions; email access alone does not necessarily restore a lost second factor.
6. Lawful and acceptable use
You may use the Services only for lawful, authorized business or development purposes. The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these Terms. It prohibits spam, malicious code, credential theft, unauthorized scanning, denial-of-service activity, quota evasion, use of unauthorized receivers, and misuse of other tenants' resources.
Hookstride may apply proportionate controls such as throttling, destination rejection, credential revocation, or suspension to address security threats, illegal activity, resource abuse, nonpayment, or a material breach. We will seek to give notice where reasonably practical and safe, but immediate action may be needed to protect other customers.
7. Plans, payment and usage measurement
Free, Team, and Flex offerings are subject to the prices, quotas, and features shown at checkout. Team is a prepaid 30-day access period with a calendar-month event allowance; Flex uses prepaid event credits. There is no automatic paid-plan renewal in the current offering. An accepted event consumes one applicable unit; automatic retries and idempotent duplicates do not create another accepted event. Manual replays are separately metered as described in the dashboard.
Paystack or another supported checkout processor handles payment authorization. A redirect or pending charge alone does not activate access: Hookstride verifies the payment against the corresponding project before crediting it. Paid purchases, refunds, corrections, unused credits, disputed charges, and taxes are governed by our Billing and Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Published website prices are descriptive; the final currency, total, and applicable taxes or charges displayed in the actual checkout are controlling. We may change future prices with appropriate notice; such changes do not retroactively increase a confirmed prepaid purchase.
8. Customer data and permissions
You retain ownership or lawful control of your events, payloads, and configuration. You grant Hookstride a limited permission to receive, store, transmit, inspect as necessary for security and troubleshooting, and delete that content in order to provide the Services and meet legal obligations. We do not acquire ownership of your application, code, or customer records.
You are responsible for providing notices, establishing a lawful basis, responding to your users' rights requests, and choosing what data your receivers may access. Our Privacy Policy explains platform-account processing. The Data Processing Addendum addresses processing of personal data submitted in customer event payloads where applicable.
9. Security, retention and backups
We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service, including access controls and restricted network paths where configured. No online service is perfectly secure. You must maintain independent backups of important source-system records; Hookstride's event history is not a permanent archive or disaster-recovery copy of your application database.
Successful and failed terminal events are subject to configured retention and deletion schedules; unfinished events, billing records, audit trails, backups, and minimal deduplication receipts may have different retention requirements. Details appear in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
10. Third-party services
Integrating Paystack, GitHub, Stripe, Google sign-in, or another provider may require a separate agreement with that provider. You are responsible for securing provider credentials and complying with its rules. Hookstride does not guarantee a third party's uptime, security, event formats, or continued compatibility. Incoming provider verification only works for specifically supported and configured sources.
11. Availability, maintenance and changes
We may maintain, update, limit, or discontinue features, including for security, legal compliance, technical compatibility, or service stability. We will aim to communicate material changes that affect active customers when reasonable. The Services may be unavailable due to maintenance, network incidents, upstream providers, invalid destinations, or events outside our reasonable control. No uptime or response-time guarantee is offered unless separately agreed in writing.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services and request account closure throughaccount support. Closure and access revocation do not automatically remove records subject to valid legal, security, accounting, or retention requirements. We may suspend or terminate access for serious abuse, persistent nonpayment, legal prohibition, or material breach. Where appropriate, we may allow an opportunity to remedy a breach.
On termination, remaining paid entitlement and any eligible refund are handled under the Billing and Refund Policy and applicable law. You remain responsible for fees and liabilities accrued before termination.
13. Intellectual property and feedback
Hookstride retains its platform, software, brand, documentation, and related intellectual property, subject to any applicable open-source licenses. You receive a limited, non-exclusive right to access and use the Services while your account complies with these Terms. You may give product suggestions; we may consider them without any obligation to implement or compensate for them, without claiming ownership of your confidential information.
14. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided on an "as available" basis without a warranty of uninterrupted, error-free, or loss-free transmission. We do not promise successful downstream business processing, regulatory compliance of your workflows, or fitness for safety-critical use.
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost opportunity, or loss of business data caused by the other party's ordinary breach of these Terms, except where such an exclusion is prohibited or a separate written agreement provides otherwise. Hookstride's aggregate contractual liability for a claim related to the Services is limited to the greater of (a) the amount paid for the affected Services during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) GHS 500, to the extent the law permits such a cap.
Nothing excludes or restricts liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where law prohibits exclusion, or any other responsibility that cannot lawfully be limited. Consumer and data-protection rights under mandatory law remain unaffected. Enterprise-specific commitments may be agreed in a separate signed contract.
You agree to compensate Hookstride for reasonable third-party claims and direct losses caused by your intentionally unlawful payloads, unauthorized destination use, or material violation of the Acceptable Use Policy, except to the extent caused by Hookstride's own breach, negligence or unlawful conduct and subject to applicable law.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Ghana, except where mandatory consumer or data-protection rules in another applicable jurisdiction require otherwise. Please first contactsupport with a concise description of any dispute so the parties can attempt a good-faith resolution. If unresolved, a competent court with jurisdiction may hear the dispute; nothing here restricts any non-waivable right to complain to a regulator or bring a claim in an applicable court.
16. Updates and the complete agreement
We may revise these Terms as the product changes or law requires. We will update the publication date and give appropriate advance notice of material adverse changes through the service or registered email where practical. Continued use after an effective revision indicates acceptance where permitted by law; if you disagree, you may stop use and request closure.
These Terms, the policies expressly incorporated here, and any signed order or addendum constitute the applicable agreement. A negotiated written agreement controls if it expressly conflicts. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent legally permitted.
